A boating accident left Mooresville, N.C., resident Dawn Bricker paralyzed from the neck down. As a mother of two children and a substitute teacher, Dawn was always the provider and giver in her family and community. Now she was left to rely totally on the support of others. This life-changing injury prompted Dawn and her husband, Andy, to open Race to Walk, a nonprofit center for individuals with spinal cord injuries and other nervous system disorders.

Race to Walk

is a non-traditional fitness facility devoted to providing comprehensive, post-acute programs for individuals suffering from spinal cord injuries and other related neurological disorders. Specializing in exercise-based training, the center provides state-of-the-art equipment and strategic training techniques in a safe and supportive environment. The center’s goal is to assist each individual in maximizing health and well-being and improve quality of life.
